CIRCLE IN THE SQUARE THEATER
1633 Broadway, NY10019
Seats Approximately 625
The Circle in the Square Theatre opened as The Mansfield Theatre on February 15th, 1926 with a performance of The Night Duel. Today, it houses the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The theatre is also associated with and houses a professional acting conservatory. The rather small theatre is located under the Paramount Pictures building and shares its entrance with the George Gershwin Theater.
Note, this is not the original Circle in the Square Theatre, originally located in Greenwich Village area of New York City. As it was a theatre in the round and near Washington Square Park, the theatre name was derivative of that fact.
